Donnie’s Annual Red River Ride – May 30, 2021
We had 8 Bikes which included 10 people, Donnie Hitt (Lead for Ride), Charlie Ford (Sweep for Ride), Micheal Meyer, David Hart, Kathy Cortese, Stephen Smith, new members Michael Prinsen and his wife along with Lana and Chris Tschirt.
We had great weather on the way down as we left when it was around 45 degrees and cloudy and it got up to 70 in Red River with the sun out. We ate lunch at the Dairy Bar in Red River. Michael and his wife left us from there as they were spending the night in Taos, but they thanked me for getting them down there and they loved the way I took them there. We went to Angel Fire and toured the Memorial. We also took photos for the National HOG contest of 50 Rides One Nation so everyone that went could get a gold coin from HOG National. We checked out bikes and a show as part of the rally as there were probably close to 700 bikes parked down the middle of the street by the time we left. We hit some hard Rain and Hail around Colorado City on our way home that lasted almost all the way back to Colorado Springs, so we put on our rain gear and made it home safely without incident. I changed the route on the way back to get us home quicker due to the storms over the mountains, so the round trip was just under 475 miles whereas it is usually around 550.
