Cottonwood Pass is newly open to the west of the pass. This sparked a need for the chapter to ride over it and what better way than an overnight ride that ends in Crested Butte. This ride was led by Jerry Cherini and the sweep was Donnie Hitt. In true Pikes Peak #405 fashion we headed out on this ride to the west by going north. Deer Creek Canyon is the perfect way to wind your way to Buena Vista of course stopping in Fairplay to put on the love-hate rain gear. The ride started with 13 bikes and 15 riders. Three bikes rode to Buena Vista and back. Two bikes rode to the top of Cottonwood Pass and back. Eight bikes and ten riders rode to Crested Butte for an overnight trip. The group ended the day with pizza and drinks and a torrential downpour but rewarded with an amazing rainbow!!

Eight people met up in the morning for breakfast and rode home together over Monarch Pass through Salida and Canon City.

This ride was ridden in memory and honor of our friend Betty Smith’s mother who had recently passed away. The family asked for people to perform acts of kindness to honor their mother and we made the signs for all the bikes and brought snacks to share with everyone. It is a wonderful thing to have such good friends that we would never have met without the mutual love of motorcycles. Hug your neighbor and always be kind.
