High Altitude Challenge

Challenge Rules

1.  Pikes Peak HOG Chapter has a program to reward members for accomplishing mountain pass riding in Colorado. The state of Colorado is home of 29 paved mountain passes and mountain pass summits. The maximum award is a patch for 29 passes visited and the minimum is a patch for 10 passes visited.

2.  The challenge begins January 1st and ends November 1st so awards can be prepared for presentation at the annual Christmas Party. (The official end to this challenge is Dec 31st)

3.  The challenge will award completion of mountain passes visited in the following increments:

10 passes at or above 10,000 feet in elevation
15 passes at or above 10,000 feet in elevation
20 passes at or above 10,000 feet in elevation
25 passes at or above 10,000 feet in elevation
29 passes at or above 10,000 feet in elevation

4.  To qualify at a level of the challenge the rider (and passenger) will take a photograph of the rider and as much of the bike as possible in front of the pass sign. In addition, include a current copy of the Harley-Davidson HOGTALES, THE ENTHUSIAST or ANNUAL TOUR BOOK.  Not all passes have elevation markers or signs naming the pass so look at the pass pictures link below for the recommended photo to be taken. Submit both the High Altitude Challenge Form and your pictures.

5.  Participants in the annual 5 IN 1 High Altitude Poker Run may use those visits for 5 of the passes.

6.  Pictures can be submitted via email to the Challenge Officer when the challenge is completed. Recognition for completing the challenge will be awarded at the Christmas party.

7.  Not all passes have signs stating how much farther it is to the summit; keep your eyes open. Below is a link with images of the eligible passes and the type of marker at each pass.

8.  For additional assistance or any questions, email the Director or Assistant Director.
